Burned Out? Find Rest, Renewal & Hope
Burnout is complicated and recovery is rarely linear, but you don't have to navigate it alone.
Burnout occurs when the pressures of the external world and the unresolved places in our inner world disconnect us from the Source of life.
2 Corinthians 4:1, 16–18
A multifaceted, non-linear journey
Outer issues like workload, boundaries, and unrealistic expectations are visible and can be addressed with practical changes. Inner issues are harder to identify and require changes in values, beliefs, roles, and relationships. These take time, because we’re changing habits and patterns that have become automatic.
This is where deeper soul work matters. Thrive’s Growing Intimacy With God and Unfinished Business groups help leaders address the inner roots of burnout.
Recovery requires more than a break. Without intentional rest and healthy rhythms, you may be even more vulnerable next time. Burning out is one of those ‘wall’ experiences God allows, not for harm, but to refine and transform us. If we cooperate, we come through it healthier leaders, and the churches and organizations we lead become healthier too.
